Most camp lanterns are either too dim to be useful or so heavy you regret bringing them. The BrightBase 500 lands in the right middle ground.
On full brightness you get 500 lumens, which lights a standard picnic table comfortably. On the lowest setting (about 50 lumens) you get up to 40 hours of runtime from one charge. A USB-C port charges it from any power bank or car charger in about 3 hours.
The silicone globe diffuses the light evenly so there’s no harsh center point. Three brightness levels plus an SOS strobe mode. The top has a hook for hanging from a tent ridgeline or a tree branch.
Rated IPX4, which means it handles rain and splashes without any issue. It’s not submersible but it survives a normal camping weekend without babying it.
Collapses flat for packing, which cuts the packed size roughly in half. At 0.8 lbs it’s easy to justify throwing it in the bag even on shorter trips where you weren’t planning to stay out after dark.

Good product overall. Works well for the price. I took off one star because the carrying bag could be a bit bigger, but that’s a minor thing. Would recommend.

Brought this to a group camping trip and got compliments from everyone. Looks nicer than I expected and functions even better. Five stars, easy.

Used this all weekend at a campground in Colorado. No complaints. It does exactly what the description says it does, which is honestly all I ask for.
